Once again I have managed to combine the week's Illustration Friday theme with my Sketchbook Project "treehouse" topic. Here is "scary":
This is the darkest I've drawn on the sketchbook pages, and I'm pleased to report no problems with bleed through.

This week's Illustration Friday theme "asleep" fits with this pen-and-ink and watercolor piece I did two and a half years ago...
lovely detail and linework!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a great illustration. Horrible, though. I mean, if I walked outside to that I would be quite unhappy. (I haven't started my sketchbook yet - and bleed through is one of my worries).
ReplyDeleteThanks, Buddhafulkat!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cindy! I should clarify that there are no spots of ink bleeding through, but when I really build up the blacks, I can see a bit of shadow of the image through back of the paper. I can live with that. I wouldn't paint the ink on the page, but I like it much better than the flimsy Moleskine Cahiers used for the project last year. I think if I wanted to paint, I'd do it on a piece of watercolor paper then attach that to the page inside the sketchbook after it dries.
I love this, very delicate linework, well conceived and executed. An image both charming and menacing.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, John!
ReplyDelete...a perfect combination, and so well done! Your line work, as usual, is wonderful! :)
ReplyDeleteI love your style and the hig level of detail it works really well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Caela!
